From Sheet Music Magazine: Frank Sinatra urgently calls Sammy for a last song in his COME DANCE WITH ME! Album. Sammy states that Sinatra is used to calling him for a single song he needs the next day. Sammy turns to Van Heusen and asks: "Has there ever been a 'Last Dance'?" Jimmy says, "I don't know." They call ASCAP. No such title exists. "Well, we wrote that song as fast as you can speak," said Sammy. (This Sammy anecdote courtesy of Will Friedwald's great book, SINATRA! THE SONG IS YOU.)
