Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'

About this product

In 1943 Richard Rogers and his new collaborator Oscar Hammerstein II forever changed the American musical with Oklahoma!. "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" broke with convention, opening the play with a gentle song about the plains at sunrise rather than one of the elaborate production numbers that opened musicals up to that time. It's gone on to become one of the most beloved American songs of all time.

True to the original

I bought this arrangement for an older adult student playing at the intermediate level. The biggest problem was that the notes were too small for her to read easily. But the key and the arrangement were also more than she could play smoothly. We used elements from this arrangement and created a simplified version that I could then print on enlarged staves. This worked very well for a performance at a nursing home.

Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin

This is one of several songs I recently ordered because I wanted to learn to sing and eventually to play them on the guitar. MusicNotes provides an excellent source for amateurs like me. I may soon have a chance to sing this song with a small group of volunteers who entertain at nursing homes and senior citizen gatherings. In the long run, I hope to learn all the songs I recently purchased, whether or not I perform them in public. One typographical error in one word kept the "accuracy" category from being perfect.
