A very popular early 1960's novelty hit on marriage, love, sin, weddings and in-laws--from the male perspective. Hints of the corner doo-wop singers outside of the maltshop (brimming with poodle skirts inside) are all over this one. ERNIE K-DOE (Ernest Kador Jr.), from New Orleans, recorded singles for Savoy, Specialty, Ember, Minit and Duke. In '62, his "Mother-In-Law" (written and produced by Alan Toussaint) went to #1 (pop and R+B) on the Billboard chart and #29 in the U.K. The 9th of 11 children of a Baptist minister, Ernie was known for his wild stage shows.
